It is a short-lived perennial plant, grown as an annual plant, typically growing to 1–3 m in height, with a weak, woody stem that usually scrambles over other plants. The genus Solanum also contains the eggplant and the potato, as well as many poisonous species

According to the book Fast Food Nation (2001), 96% of school children in the United States can identify Ronald McDonald, making him the United States’ most recognized fast food advertising icon. Only Santa Claus was more commonly recognized.

In Japan, Ronald McDonald is known as Donald McDonald.
