Take JR Tokai to Kyoto’s Cherry Blossoms

The Philosopher’s Walk (哲学の道 Tetsugaku-no-michi, lit. Path of Philosophy) is a pedestrian path that follows a cherry-tree-lined canal in Kyoto, between Ginkaku-ji and Nanzen-ji. The walk is a popular destination for tourists and locals, especially during hanami.

Kamigamo Shrine (上賀茂神社 Kamigamo Jinja) is an important Shinto sanctuary on the banks of the Kamo River in north Kyoto, first founded in 678.

Ninna-ji (仁和寺 Ninna-ji) is the head temple of the Omuro school of the Shingon Sect of Buddhism. Located in western Kyoto, Japan, it was founded in AD 888 by the retired Emperor Uda. Most of the surviving buildings date from the 17th century, and include a five-story pagoda and an orchard of dwarf cherry trees.

Tō-ji (東寺 Tō-ji) (East Temple) is a Buddhist temple of the Shingon sect in Kyoto, Japan. The grounds feature a garden and pond, in which turtles and koi swim.

Daigo-ji (醍醐寺 Daigo-ji) is a Shingon Buddhist temple in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. More than seven centuries after its founding, Toyotomi Hideyoshi held a famous cherry blossom viewing party called Daigo no hanami in 1598 at the Sambō-in sub-temple.

The Heian Shrine (平安神宮 Heian-jingū) is a Shinto shrine located in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. The Japanese-style garden takes up about half the land area (approximately 33060 m2).

The Central Japan Railway Company (東海旅客鉄道株式会社 Tōkai Ryokaku Tetsudō Kabushiki-gaisha) is the main railway company operating in the Chūbu (Nagoya) region of central Japan. It is officially abbreviated in English as JR Central and in Japanese as JR Tōkai (JR東海).

Becky Omiai Tenkaippin Ramen

Miai (見合い, “matchmaking”, lit. “looking at one another”) or omiai (お見合い) is a Japanese traditional custom in which unattached individuals are introduced to each other to consider the possibility of marriage. “Miai” or “omiai” is sometimes translated as an “arranged marriage” in other languages.

Becky (ベッキー Bekkī, born March 6, 1984) is a Japanese television personality, or tarento, signed with the entertainment company Sun Music Productions. On television, she has also appeared in numerous commercials and has lent her voice to the characters of many anime shorts and movies.

天下一品(てんかいっぴん、英語名:Tenkaippin)は、ラーメンチェーン店またフランチャイズチェーン店の一つ。京都府京都市を発祥地とする。
“Tenkaippin is a ramen and ramen franchise chain. It has its beginnings in Kyoto.”

The origin of ramen is unclear. Some sources say it is of Chinese origin. Other sources say it was invented in Japan early 20th century.

Anytime, Anywhere, Anyone, Game Watch

Game & Watch or G&W is a line of handheld electronic games produced by Nintendo from 1980 to 1991. Created by game designer Gunpei Yokoi, each Game & Watch features a single game to be played on an LCD screen in addition to a clock and an alarm.

While traveling on the Shinkansen, [Gunpei] Yokoi saw a bored businessman playing with an LCD calculator by pressing the buttons. Yokoi then got the idea for a watch that doubled as a miniature game machine for killing time, and went on to create Game & Watch, a line of handheld electronic games.

Nintendo was founded as a card company in late 1889, originally named Nintendo Koppai. Based in Kyoto, Japan, the business produced and marketed a playing card game called Hanafuda.

LCDs are used in a wide range of applications including computer monitors, television, instrument panels, aircraft cockpit displays, and signage. They are common in consumer devices such as video players, gaming devices, clocks, watches, calculators, and telephones, and have replaced cathode ray tube (CRT) displays in most applications.
